Feminist Caravane 2015 – World March of Women
Short Report
From march 6th to October 17th 2015, A feminist Caravan of the World March of Women will cross Europe to meet local groups of women and progressist and feminist organisations. We aim to make links between struggles, to document our realities and analysis, our strategies of struggles … We also aim to make visible realities of women in Europe, allow for instance the western europe know better what’s going on in the eastern europe and increase solidarity.
The Feminist Caravan will go from Turkey, Kurdistan, to Portugal. It will cross the Balkans in April 2015. This preparatory meeting had as an main to see how to organise the coming of this Feminist Caravan of the World March of Women in the Balkans.
Around 30 women came to the meeting, coming from different cities in Serbia, from Slovenia, Kosovo, Bulgaria and Romania. Sisters from Bosnia and Croatia couldn’t attend but excuse themselves for not being present. The women present represented several groups and organisations, such as Front (Romania), the CEE Network for Gender Issues (Slovenia), Femenergy (Serbia), Saral Center October (Serbia) …
Main issues in the region were defined as :
- raise of racism/fascism and religious fundamentalisms
- Privatisation of public services and in general austerity politics
- Working conditions and deregulation of work
- My body my right : issues of women autonomy, including abortion, sexual rights …
Various proposals were made for stop-overs in the region. We concluded with the following pre-plan. Everything must be discussed at local level now.
The aim is to confirm the path in the 2 coming weeks. All groups are invited to send their feedback if possible before the 31st of january to femvan@marchemondiale.org
